EBA had a wonderful time at the ManuFest Career Day event at The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks! With over 1,200 students in attendance from Montgomery County School District, we had the pleasure of connecting with the students and discussing their many different career opportunities in our trade.
On November 29, the General Building Contractors Association (GBCA), Architectural Glass & Metal Assoc (AGMA), Employing Bricklayers Association (EBA), the Mechanical & Service Contractors Association of Eastern PA (M&SCA), and the Penn-Del-Jersey Chapter, NECA presented Philadelphia’s first ever Construction Technology Expo! Over 100 attendees from the construction industry and the Drexel University Construction Management Program and Engineering Department communities came to see the new applications, tools, and platforms from over 20 exhibitors. They also took part in discussions with other contractors about opportunities and challenges with implementing new technologies in the field. View more photos here!
Our Masonry: Structure and Design Seminar back in November provided insight to key changes made in the code since 2009 International Building Code, highlighting the most recent changes to TMS 402/602, ASTM C90, ASCE 7, ASHRAE 90.1 and IECC. The seminar focused on both structural and architectural elements. In addition, a collaborative panel discussion will explore how the two disciplines can coordinate and implement more efficient designs in masonry!
EBA & BAC Local #1 connected Dzwil Contracting, EP Henry Corporation and Haye Landscaping Inc to Entercom for the project for the Travis Mannion Foundation. The subcontractors and suppliers partnered to renovated the patio and surrounding area. BRIAN MCGRATH and John Haye are veterans themselves. A proud moment for all involved!
We had a wonderful day at Cedarbrook Country Club for the Annual EBA and BAC Local 1 Golf Outing. Sold out!!! Thanks to everyone who came out! John J. Sabia Sr. Scholarship has given over $600,000 in scholarships, adding another $55,000 in 2018 where 11 students received $5,000 each.

The MULE! MC of NJ coordinated efforts to host a demonstration for the industry. Dooley & Kretschman and DM Sabia were some of those interested to learn of the innovation and impact on the industry. Representatives from EBA and IMI were also in attendance.
